Jen Sparkman
President
|
A producer of shows in San
Diego and across the country, she’s best known locally for her work on
Triple Espresso at the Horton Grand Theater. She was awarded the San
Diego Arts and Culture Commission scholarship for a four month paid
specialized training program with California CORO Arts Leadership
Program to further the arts in San Diego Ms Sparkman’s experience as a
producer began when she became a co-founder of San Diego Children's
Theater from 1989 to the present. SDCT is a preeminent San Diego Company
for Children, where she produced, managed and fund raised for a variety
of plays over a period of 15 years. Not only was she responsible for all
the creative aspects of the productions but also casting, hiring and
contracting with the director, the music director, the choreographer,
and the donors and benefactors.

Jamie Lloyd
Vice President |
Jamie has been a career
employee in the Department of Communication at the University of
California, San Diego for 25 years where she is currently an Academic
Counselor in the Department of Communication. Before coming to UCSD she
taught early childhood education, and worked various clerical temporary
positions in San Diego while attending San Diego State University where
she earned a BA degree in Social Work. She has volunteered and been
involved in various public and non-profit organizations in San Diego,
including San Diego City schools, the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation,
the Homeless Coalition of San Diego, Oz San Diego, LiveWell elder day
care center and UCSD medical center Senior Behavioral Health Program.
She has worked part time as a dancer and actor in local community
theatre productions for the past two years and is in the process of
starting a children's theatre program for inner city youth.

 Doug Hoehn
Secretary & Treasurer

Doug Hoehn has over 25 years
experience in banking and finance, most recently as an Officer of
JPMorganChase, Inc. Previously, he was employed by Beneficial Management
Corporation. He is a specialist in corporate communications, training,
and call center management.

Rob Appel, Member
|
As a
producer-director-choreographer for the past 44 years, and some 4000
shows, Rob Appel is the Founder and Producer of the 9-year running BRAVO
SAN DIEGO, the largest performing arts benefit GALA in the State of
California, and past Producer-Director of SUMMERQUEST, San Diego's
largest HIV/AIDS Benefit Concert Galas for the past 8-years, the Gospel
Benefit SOULJAM, along with numerous other concert events, as well as
last year's mega TRIBUTE TO JERRY HERMAN Concert in Washington, DC. As
the past director and choreographer for Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra,
Vickie Carr, The Temptations, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Allen, George
Chakiris, Catrina Valente, Yma Sumac, Dinah Shore, and numerous European
and Japanese stars over the years, Rob is now 'retired' here in San
Diego, and supports the performing arts through his writings and
commentaries in the San Diego Theatre Scene. |

Dale Morris
Executive Producer

Dale Morris
is the founder of San Diego Theatre Scene, Inc. and all its various
parts (see parts). He is stepping down as
6th @ Penn artistic
director on July 1, 2008 and will remain as executive producer. He has been an actor for the last 30
years but made his living as a property manager, managing large
residential apartment complexes until purchasing 6th @ Penn.
He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and Actors’ Equity
Association (AEA) the union of stage actors. Dale created the San Diego
Theatre Scene Newsletter in 2001 which now reaches 6100 San
Diego theatre goers weekly. When presented with an opportunity to
purchase the lease on the space that is now 6th @ Penn, he
did so, turning it non-profit, and is proud that the little theatre has
provided more work for actors, directors and technical designers than
any other small to mid-sized theatre in Southern California. |

Michael Thomas Tower

A playwright with an
"off-Broadway" production, a fine actor, and a recognized theatre
artist; Michael
is now a major artistic partner in the operations of 6th @ Penn Theatre.
Michael owned a printing business in
Oakland before retiring and moving to San Diego. He volunteers his time
and talent to design all of 6th @ Penn’s banners, post cards and flyers.
His volunteer efforts save us thousands of dollars a year.

Matt Thompson
Artistic Director
6th @ Penn Theatre |
Based on the West Coast, Matt Thompson is a published playwright and
professional actor and director.
As
an actor he has worked in various theatre across the country. Select San
Diego acting credits include The Abyss, Two Guys Walk into a Bar (The
Old Globe), Leading Ladies, A Thousand Clowns, Dracula (North Coast
Rep), Comfort Farm (Lamb’s Players), Shear Madness (Theatre in Old
Town), Angel City (Sledgehammer). Select Regional credits include
Moonlight and Magnolias (Sierra Rep), The Tempest (Kingsmen
Shakespeare), Rapunzal (The Falcon Theatre), Six Degrees of Separation
(El Portal Center for the Performing Arts), Hitler’s Head (The Road
Theatre), Maybe Baby It’s You (Molyneaux Tennessee Theatre). TV credits:
C.S.I, Veronica Mars, Fashion House, Watch Over Me, The Invisible Man,
Baywatch, The Expendables, Days of Our Lives, Cover Me, and 18 Wheels of
Justice.

Matt is the former artistic director of Repertory Theatre at Sea
Program, where he wore hats as producer, director and writer for several
years. Matt is also the artistic director of The Plutonium Theatre, a
homeless theatre company dedicated to the production of new works. He
also teaches acting, sketch comedy and playwriting in San Diego.

Mitchel Simkovski
Technical Director |
Mitchell
Simkovski, Technical Director: Mr. Simkovski supervises the use and
maintenance of 6th @ Penn’s lighting system, sound equipment, and
electrical system. Although our systems are small, they are modern and
expensive. Mitchell has worked with 6th @ Penn since its inception and
earns a small stipend for each production he designs lights for.

Joan Westmoreland
Box Office / Administration

Joan
Westmoreland Pearson, Administrative Assistant Contractor: Ms.
Pearson works in the 6th @ Penn Theatre office each Monday and works out
of her home the rest of the week. Her position is paid for by the
existing TOT grant and she submits a monthly invoice for payment. She
worked as a secretary/administrative assistant for 28 years in San
Diego, California; first in the private sector, then as a legal
secretary, then as manager of the law firm Thompson & Thompson. In
1985, the managing partner, David Thompson, was appointed to the federal
bench of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals by President Reagan; and Ms.
Pearson went with him to set up and manage his judicial chambers. She
retired from that position in 1996.

Cat is
our resident stage manager and our comic relief. She is worth her
weight in gold. |

Mission Statement
The primary objectives and purposes of this
corporation shall be: To promote and develop theatrical Arts in San
Diego in the following ways:
·
To provide affordable theatre space to cross-disciplinary
artistic groups.
·
To produce theatrical performances for the public.
·
Employ and train a variety of local artists and supporting
personnel.
·
Provide space for educational programs including in-house
classes and educational productions and programs.
·
To maintain an up-to-date Website which will inform and
educate the people of San Diego as to the many different theatrical
activities that are taking place; and to provide a place for actors,
directors, theatre technicians, and curious , to communicate and gather.
·
To publish an E-mail newsletter to the general public in
an effort to inform and educate the people of San Diego as to the many
different theatrical and cross-disciplinary activities that are taking
place – and information on auditions, employment opportunities, and
volunteer opportunities.
·
Provide a forum which will be supportive of the social
needs and issues of the local community.
·
To provide facilities for others to engage in the
promotion of the arts, generally.
